Shipping Portable Dust Suppression Units
Shipping Guide: From & To UK
1. Assess Your Cargo
- Dimensions: Measure the length, width, and height of each unit and the pallet (if palletized).
- Weight: Weigh each unit and the pallet.
- Quantity: Determine the total number of units being shipped.
2. Determine Shipment Type
- FCL (Full Container Load): Suitable if units fit within standard container dimensions (e.g., 20ft or 40ft) and weight limits.
- OOG (Out of Gauge): Required if units exceed standard container dimensions or weight limits. Will require a flat rack or other specialized equipment.
- Breakbulk: Only considered if units are exceptionally large or heavy and cannot be accommodated by FCL or OOG.
3. Packaging Specifications
Proper packaging is crucial to prevent damage. The following is recommended:
- Pallets: Use strong, appropriately sized pallets made of heat-treated wood (HT) to meet ISPM 15 standards.
- Wrapping: Secure units to the pallet using stretch wrap, ensuring complete coverage and preventing movement.
- Bracing: Use corner boards and other bracing materials as needed to prevent shifting and damage during transit. Consider additional bracing for fragile components.
4. Incoterms
Clarify the Incoterms (e.g., DDP, CIF, FOB) applicable to your shipment. These terms define responsibilities and costs between buyer and seller.
5. Documentation
Necessary documentation includes:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading
- Certificate of Origin (if required)
6. Customs Regulations
Understanding and complying with customs regulations in both the exporting and importing countries is vital.
7. Insurance
Consider insuring your shipment to protect against loss or damage.
