Museum-Grade Climate-Controlled Cases. (Specific dimensions, weight, and fragility of each case must be provided for accurate quotation.)
FCL (Full Container Load) in a climate-controlled container (reefer): This is the preferred method for most shipments due to its cost-effectiveness and protection against environmental factors. It minimizes handling and reduces the risk of damage.
OOG (Out of Gauge) shipment: If the cases exceed standard container dimensions, specialized handling and potentially a custom-built container or Breakbulk shipment will be required. This option is more expensive and carries a higher risk of damage.
Breakbulk: This is the least desirable option. It involves handling individual pieces of cargo, increasing the risk of damage and significantly increasing costs. Only consider this if no other suitable shipping method is available.
Cases must be individually packaged using high-density polyethylene foam (minimum 2 inches thick) to cushion against impacts. Custom-built wooden crates are recommended for added protection, especially for fragile items. Internal bracing using plywood or strong, lightweight aluminum supports is crucial to prevent shifting during transit. All crates must be clearly labeled with "FRAGILE," "HANDLE WITH CARE," and "KEEP UPRIGHT." Specific labeling requirements for customs will be provided.
Delays can occur due to customs inspections, unforeseen weather events, port congestion, or other unforeseen circumstances. Shipping International will proactively monitor your shipment and provide regular updates. Contingency plans, including alternative routing options and expedited shipping, will be developed and implemented as needed to minimize disruption.
Understanding Incoterms is crucial. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means the logistics provider handles all aspects, including customs duties and taxes, delivering the goods to your specified destination. DAP (Delivered at Place) means the logistics provider delivers the goods to the named place of destination, but you are responsible for customs clearance and import duties. Shipping International will work with you to determine the most suitable Incoterms for your specific needs.
